Carrying on the legacy of Kayden Hammond.
About Kayden Hammond Foundation
The Kayden Hammond Foundation was established in June 2023, eight months after Kayden’s fight with cancer concluded. While his time on earth ended far too soon, he touched countless lives during his 16 years. As a son, brother, nephew, grandson, friend, teammate, leader, classmate, and mentor, Kayden served in each role with care and charisma. Both literally and figuratively, Kayden ran his race with determination and encouraged all those around him to lean on Jesus as their strength. KHF is a lasting legacy to Kayden’s life.
About Kayden
Kayden Hammond was born November 10, 2005, to Chris and Alicia Hammond in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Kayden was a junior at Faulkton Area School District and active in as many things as possible. An all-around athlete, he played football, basketball, baseball, and ran track and cross country. He appreciated all genres of music, showcasing his unique brand of humor with his walk up song, “Wannabe,” which never failed to make his teammates and spectators giggle.
Kayden enjoyed FFA, attending stock car races, participating as a 4-H member, and shooting sports. In his personal time, Kayden enjoyed time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, farming, checking cows, and just being on the farm. He was a lover of sunrises and sunsets and making everyone laugh. Kayden consistently volunteered with Sunday school events, worked in a classroom, and was known for his children’s sermons. He was a phenomenal big brother to Kyler and Kudder. He will always be remembered for his smile and being the best teammate in all aspects of life.
Kayden was diagnosed with T-cell Leukemia January 24, 2022. He immediately began a courageous battle with cancer and chose Joshua 1:9 as his verse to support him and encourage others. He took on the color orange to share leukemia awareness and aimed to be an example to others of how to battle through illness with positivity.
